It's been 30 years since the first Sonic game on Compact Disc was released. That's 30 years of glory, thirty years of 16-bit Mega CD epicness, thirty years of an epic soundtrack. And, twelve years ago, Christian Whitehead ported Sonic CD to iOS, Android, Xbox 360, PS3 and Steam (not on the Epic Games Store). They have now been delisted, which is sad, but they were delisted to make way for Sonic Origins in 2022, a collection featuring the four main Classic Sonic games. It wasn't that much of a great deal, that was until Sonic Origins Plus was released with extra games for all new consoles (and Epic Games Store, yay?).
Sonic CD was also the introduction of Metal Sonic, a super cool rival for Sonic, and Amy Rose also debuts here. Both characters are staples in the Sonic franchise.
So, today celebrates 30 years of Sonic CD! What are your thoughts about the game? How will you celebrate? Do you like my Sonic CD doodle that I've spent too long on?
